Arrival and Dismissal Reminders and Voting on Tuesday

Morning and afternoon routines continue to get better each day.  Here are a few reminders for Arrival and Dismissal as well as Voting on Tuesday:  

Drop-Off Procedures:  

• Parents should remain in their vehicles during drop-off.
• Parents should not be on the playground during arrival.
• These routines help students build independence and allow us to move the car lines along smoothly so everyone is ready for our 9:00 a.m. start.
• If it is raining, students will exit cars or buses and head directly into the building with the support of staff on duty.

 
End of the Day Pick-up:

• Parents should exit vehicles and pick their child up at the designated area.  (Butler lot for 1st-5th, Frasier lot for Kinder.  

 
Theresa Ave:
We have many families who are parking on Theresa Ave.  If no other options are available and you need to park on Theresa Ave., the Salem PD has asked me to reiterate a few points.  

• Please park at least 30 ft from the Butler intersection.
• All cars should be parked on the same side of the road to allow children to walk safely and cars to use the road safely.  
• Cars are not allowed to park on both sides as it could impede police or fire vehicles during an emergency.   
• Please do not block driveways or fire hydrants.  

 
PickUp Patrol
Please sign up and update your Pick Up Patrol as needed.  With students going in many directions at the end of the day, we want to make sure everyone knows their plan and where they are supposed to be to get everyone home safely.   
 
Bike Riders
 We have many students who bike to school. For safety, all students must walk their bikes on and off Barron property. Our parking lots are very busy during arrival and dismissal, and students are often not yet experienced enough to safely navigate a crowded lot while riding. Walking bikes helps keep everyone safe.
 
Walkers
 For students dismissed as walkers, please note that once they leave the building, there is very limited adult supervision from Barron staff, as our focus is on directing bus and car riders. Please be sure your child knows their walking route and any family expectations for getting home safely.
 
Busses:  
 Our bus times are running more smoothly and should be more accurate as we continue to get better with our routines each day. 
 
REMINDER FOR Voting on Tuesday:  Tuesday, September 8th is an Election Day.  Barron will be open for school but our gym will be utilized for voters.  

• Students will have morning recess inside the building.  
• Parking at the Butler Street Lot will be for voters and so this may require some extra time and patience during pick-up time at the end of the school day.  
• If you typically pick up your student at the end of the day, please consider putting them on bus.  You can change their plan quickly in Pick Up Patrol or by calling the main office at 603-893-7067.
