Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year!
I can’t believe we are already in August! I want to warmly welcome our new families to Barron and welcome back all returning families for the 2026-2027 school year. I hope you are enjoying your summer and starting to get excited for a wonderful year ahead.
Throughout August, I’ll be sending updates to help you prepare for the school year. Here are the main ways you can receive information:
- Email: When I send messages to all parents, the email addresses are gathered through our Infinite Campus student information system. It is important for parents/guardians to have updated email addresses.
- Parent Square: The Salem School District uses ParentSquare as its primary tool for parent communications. ParentSquare can be accessed via a web portal (https://parentsquare.com) or a mobile app and consolidates district, school, and teacher communications into one location. For more information, visit https://sau57.org/parentsquare.
Once the school year begins, you can expect a weekly update from me highlighting what is happening at Barron. Please feel free to reach out to the school with any questions or to update any contact information. The number is 603-893-7067.
The most common question right now is: Do I need to buy school supplies? The answer is no. Our classrooms are equipped with all of the supplies your student will need. The only things you may want to think about as “Back to School Shopping” is popping up everywhere are:
- A comfortable backpack that can hold their Chromebook
- A daily snack
For those of you with busy fall schedules here are a few dates to put on the Calendar:
- Friday, August 28th Late afternoon: Class lists will be posted on our front doors and information will be emailed on how to access the lists electronically.
- Monday, August 31st Back to School Event: Teachers will host students in their new rooms from 5:00-5:30pm. This is the perfect chance to capture those special classroom photos, since families won’t be entering the building on the first day. From 5:30-6:30, families can head out to the playground and spend some time saying hello at our PTA sponsored event.
- Wednesday, September 2nd First Day of School for all students. Students can begin arriving at 8:30 and begin entering the building at 8:45am. Please do not arrive prior to 8:30 as there is no supervision available. School Hours are 9:00-3:00.
- Monday, September 7th Labor Day Holiday / No School
- Tuesday, September 8th is an Election Day, School is in Session and our gym will be blocked off for voting with no access to our main building.
- Wednesday, September 9th School Picture Day (More information to come.)
- Thursday, September 17th Barron Open House for parents and guardians. This night provides the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and learn about curriculum, procedures, and activities for the upcoming school year. This is an evening for caregivers only and children do not attend. The schedule will run at staggered times to alleviate parking and help with children in multiple grades.

I’ll continue to send updates throughout August as we count down to the first day of school. I’m so excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to welcome students back into the building—it’s really quiet without them!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marie Alsup
Principal
