Here are a few notes for the week:

What a snow last weekend! Please remember that sleds are not allowed on our busses and that students need the big 5 to play in the snow. We are all hoping temperatures warm up so we can get outside and enjoy it.

With the recent snow, our morning arrival has been more challenging and we need your help to keep everyone safe. Right now, some of the snowbanks are taller than many of our students. These banks create "blind spots" that make it nearly impossible for drivers to see students stepping off a curb or walking between cars. We ask that you:

Stay in the Line: Do not pull around or drop students off in the street.

Use Crosswalks Only: Students must only cross where staff and drivers expect them.

Budget Extra Time: Icy roads and high snowbanks unfortunately mean things may move a little slower.

Our staff is out there in the cold to ensure everyone gets inside safely. We appreciate your patience.

The Salem School District Deliberative Session will also be held on February 5th at the Salem High School Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00pm. Childcare is provided.

Valentine’s Day is coming up and teachers will be sending home information soon regarding celebrations. As a school, we are asking if your child is planning to pass out Valentines in the classroom, that one is distributed to each student. Please do not include a consumable item such as candy or food due to allergies and other health reasons. The cards themselves are nice to have but if you want to share a treat, things like stickers, pencils, erasers, etc… are great alternatives!

The Barron Band and Strings concert will be held on Thursday, Feb 5th at 9:15am. The concert is open to members of the performer’s immediate family only as we have limited space. We are working with ssdtv6.com to record the concert so that family and our students can watch it at a later date. Here are few things to note for next week’s performance:
- Please enter the gym doors where a sign-in sheet will be waiting for you.
- Doors will not be open until 9:00am. Please do not arrive prior to this as our students will be outside at recess until 8:45am and you will not be able to use the Butler Street parking lot until they have all entered the building.
- All attendees will need to exit the building following the performance.
- If you would like a sibling to attend the performance, please contact the main office to make arrangements for them to be dismissed from class.

Friday we will once again do a football day in honor of the Super Bowl. GO PATS!
