Parent Square, Summer Dates, & School Supplies
Now that August has begun, I’d like to say hello to any new Barron families and welcome back to all of our families for the 2023-2024 school year! Throughout the month of August, I will be sending information to keep you up to date on all of the back to school information you will need to know.
It will be critical to receive the most up-to-date information during the school year. Below are the multiple ways information will be shared.
- Email: When I send messages to all parents, the email addresses are gathered through our Infinite Campus student information system. It is important for parents/guardians to have updated email addresses.
- Parent Square: The Salem School District uses ParentSquare as its primary tool for parent communications. ParentSquare can be accessed via a web portal (https://parentsquare.com) or a mobile app and consolidates district, school, and teacher communications into one location. While creating a ParentSquare account is unnecessary to receive messages, parents with accounts can view all relevant messaging in one place and customize how (email, text, app) and when (nightly digest or instantly) they receive messages. Other benefits of creating your account include customized language translation settings and access to interactive features that streamline teacher-to-parent communications.

Once the school year starts, you can expect to get at least a weekly update from me regarding all the happenings at Barron School. I hope you find it helpful. Please feel free to reach out to the school with any questions or to update any contact information. The number is 603-893-7067.
Currently the biggest question is about school supplies. Our classrooms are equipped with all of the supplies your student will need. You do not have to purchase school supplies. The only thing you may want to think about as “Back to School Shopping” is popping up everywhere is a comfortable backpack that is able to fit your student’s chromebook, and a snack daily. You may also find it helpful to have some items at home to assist with homework such as pencils and paper as needed.
In addition, here are some upcoming Dates to Remember:
- August 25th: Class lists will be posted on our front doors and electronically.
- August 28th: Back to School Event: Teachers will host students in their classrooms from 5:30-6:00pm. This is a great time to get a start of school picture. Once finished in the classrooms, families can head out to the playground and enjoy Kona Ice sponsored by our PTA until 7:00pm..
- August 30th: First Day of School.
- September 4th: Labor Day Holiday / No School
- September 12th: Open House for parents and guardians. This night provides the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and learn about curriculum, procedures, and activities for the upcoming school year. This is an evening for caregivers only and children do not attend.
- September 13th: School Picture Day (more information will come once school starts.)
You will continue hearing from me over the course of the month. I am looking forward to the exciting school year ahead and for the kids to be back in the building! It gets lonely in here without them. 😃
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marie Alsup
Principal
